How to Make Any Meal Healthier

There are so many amazing recipes available but not all of them are what I would want to eat to feel good and be healthy.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try them. What I’ll do is swap and change some of the ingredients so that I know I’ll feel good eating it.

Here are some ideas of things that I do to make a meal healthy:

  • Eat something easily digestible such as some carrot or cucumber sticks first to stimulate digestive enzymes.
  • Squeeze lemon juice over the food instead of a sauce that could upset your stomach.
  • Add sprouts and microgreens – if it is just a standard meal with lots of unhealthy ingredients, top it with sprouts or microgreens (or even if it is a healthy meal, add sprouts). This is a wonderful way to add some nutrients to what you’re eating.
  • Swap out less healthy ingredients for better ones, such as:
  • Tamari Sauce instead of standard soy sauce (gluten free)
  • Sea salt instead of iodized table salt
  • Non irradiated herbs and spices
  • Vegetables and herbs from your own garden (herbs can be grown on the windowsill)
  • Choose organic produce where possible
  • Consume free-range, grass-fed animal products

If you’re eating out you can see what side options they have and get a few of them rather than one big main meal that might not be as healthy.
Taking digestive enzymes with these meals when you eat out can really help to break down the food and ease the digestive process and prevent cramping and sluggishness.

Just doing small things like this can help to get you healthier and to feel better.
